Australian Taxation Office (ATO) appoints Smartsalary

Smartsalary has been selected exclusive provider of salary packaging and novated leasing services for the ATO.  It is one of few organisations that was managing its affairs internally with the assistance of a major fleet management company. Now, after a public tender process, Smartsalary is fortunate to have been selected for provision of full end-to-end salary packaging and novated leasing services.

Ross Dickson the Assistant Commissioner of Workforce and Employee Services at the Australian Taxation Office said of their decision to move to Smartsalary, “The ability to outsource the administration of our salary packaging, enables us to concentrate on core HR services and the value add is to be able to combine this with our leasing provider to offer staff a one stop shop”.

We are very proud to work with the Australian Taxation Office and welcome all of their staff to our program!

Employment Opportunities

A recent blog post focussed on our recruitment campaign throughout the state of Queensland.  It generated a fair bit of interest from people within salary packaging and related industries.  We are still busy going through the resumes and setting up interviews . . . I suspect this exercise will continue for some time.

The response here got us thinking about all the recruitment we do throughout the year across all of our offices, and how nice it would be to have motivated and experienced people applying for roles at Smartsalary and our fleet management company Webfleet.

Due to expansion across all areas of the business, about a dozen people have started with Smartsalary over the past month and we are currently looking for two dozen more in customer service, administrative, IT, novated leasing, and team leader roles in Sydney alone.  And typically we have one or more salary packaging consultant roles to fill throughout Australia – currently we are looking to fill roles in ACT, Newcastle and Mt. Gambier.

We encourage anyone interested in working with us to forward their resume. Finding quality candidates has proven to be exceedingly challenging . . . our recruitment manager tells me that she reviews about 50 resumes that come through from job boards for every one job hire!   I suspect that the success rate from qualified industry candidates would naturally be a lot higher.  If you have a strong work ethic and want to work in a dynamic organisation focussed on its culture and customer service above all else, then we’d love to hear from you.

Simply forward your details and resume directly to

Queensland Disaster Relief Fund

Like all Australians, Smartsalary has watched the flood disaster unfold in Queensland over the past week with great dismay and we’re now asking ourselves “what can we do?”

We’re looking into a salary packaging solution for pre-tax donations and as soon as we know more we will update you on opportunities in this regard. (see update below)

In the meantime, to help this important cause, we’ve made a modest direct donation to the Queensland Disaster Relief Fund and we encourage others who are concerned to give what they can.

Our hearts and minds go out to those affected in Queensland at the present time.

Update: Smartsalary has now set up a salary packaging facility for donations to be made directly from your pre-tax salary to the Queensland Flood Appeal – you can access this facility by logging in to your Smartsalary account.  For a variety of reasons not all employers have enabled this opportunity so simply check your account to see whether this option is available to you.

Thanks again for your interest and generosity.

Smartsalary Now Hiring in Queensland

2011 is underway and we are now recruiting for Salary Packaging Consultants throughout the state, from the Gold Coast right up to far north Queensland. We are looking for people with a get-up-and-go attitude and a real focus on customer service. They should be a keen learner, as they’ll need to know all the ins and outs of salary packaging and have the ability to explain it clearly and simply.

If you know anyone who might fit the bill, drop us a line at

Best wishes to you in the new year!
