Australian Taxation Office (ATO) appoints Smartsalary

Smartsalary has been selected exclusive provider of salary packaging and novated leasing services for the ATO.  It is one of few organisations that was managing its affairs internally with the assistance of a major fleet management company. Now, after a public tender process, Smartsalary is fortunate to have been selected for provision of full end-to-end salary packaging and novated leasing services.

Ross Dickson the Assistant Commissioner of Workforce and Employee Services at the Australian Taxation Office said of their decision to move to Smartsalary, “The ability to outsource the administration of our salary packaging, enables us to concentrate on core HR services and the value add is to be able to combine this with our leasing provider to offer staff a one stop shop”.

We are very proud to work with the Australian Taxation Office and welcome all of their staff to our program!

It gives me even greater confidence in Smartsalary to know that the Australian Taxation Office is entrusting their employees’ salary sacrifice to my salary sacrifice company – congratulations!

As a Tax Office employee I am not happy with the fact that my super contribution does not make it to my super fund on Friday. When the Tax Office administered my payment, it was always in the bank on Thursday night/Friday morning. I feel a bit ripped off.

      Hi Michael,

Thank you for raising your concerns. I understand why you would be frustrated when you are used to your super payment appearing on the Thursday night/Friday. I can confirm that as we speak, both the ATO and Smartsalary are working to resolve this issue. Together, we are aiming to align payment times between all parties to reflect the schedule previously administered.

        Hi Michael,

Just a quick update – Smartsalary and the ATO have implemented a process improvement resulting in salary deductions being available to Smartsalary on pay day. This change was effected in May, and has enabled Smartsalary since that time to meet the same timeframe you enjoyed when salary packaging was managed internally by the ATO.

        Best wishes,
